Education and Career

Born in Beaumont, California, Tracy Caldwell Dyson attended Beaumont High School, graduating in 1987.

She pursued higher education at California State University, Fullerton, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1993. Caldwell Dyson continued her studies at the University of California, Davis, earning a Doctorate in Chemistry in 1997.

While at Fullerton, Caldwell Dyson designed various equipment and electronics for atmospheric chemistry instruments.

After completing her doctorate, she joined the University of California, Irvine, where she conducted research in atmospheric chemistry.

NASA Career

Caldwell Dyson was selected as an astronaut candidate for NASA's 17th astronaut class on June 4, 1998.
