Champion football coach Bill Belichick will walk the side lines again in 2025—for a team very few might have guessed.

On December 11, the University of North Carolina announced 72-year-old Belichick, who previously led the New England Patriots to six Super Bowls titles, had reached a five-year deal to become the school’s next football coach.

Belichick, known for his gruff demeanor and trademark hoodie, coached the Patriots for 24 seasons before he and the team amicably split earlier this year.

He has never led an NCAA team but does have a connection to the Chapel Hill school.
